The Karachi Port handled 148,374 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,980 tonnes of import cargo and 52,394 tonnes of export cargo including 5,666 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 95,980 tonnes comprised of 47,536 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,939 tonnes of bulk cargo and 39,505 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 52,394 tonnes comprised of 31,343 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 16,850 tonnes of clinker; 3,001 tonnes of wheat and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,666 containers comprising of 3,704 containers import and 1,962 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 892 of 20's and 1,202 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 204 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 825 of 20's and 358 of 40's loaded containers while 69 of 20's and 176 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Kota Layar, Ubena, MSC Roberta and Diyala carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. COSCO Hong Kong, Xin Fu Zhou, Cardonia, Xin Yan Tai, Rickmers New Orleans and Fu Rong Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
